Our opening times are Monday to Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm during term time.

We offer 15 hours per week universal government funded places, with options for additional paid for sessions. We also offer 30 hours per week extended funded places, for those families who are eligible.

Our provision is registered for 3 and 4 year olds. Funded hours commence the term after a child’s third birthday, but paid for sessions are available as soon as a child turns 3.

If you are looking for fun filled learning for your child in spacious and stimulating indoor and outdoor environments, then Little Conkers Pre-School is the place to be!

Our experienced staff team are always happy to show you around and talk with you about your child’s specific interests and needs, and how we can make their pre-school experience a very happy and enriching one.

It is very important to us that the children feel at home and secure as quickly as possible, so our day begins in a calm atmosphere, and parents and carers are encouraged to settle their child at an activity area, with time to chat to the staff if they need to.

We are blessed with lots of wonderful spaces and we use them to the full! We like to be outdoors as much as possible and you will often find us investigating what is growing, playing hide and seek among the trees and shrubs, whizzing around on trikes and scooters, and climbing up the tree house or along the trim trail. You are also likely to bump into pirates looking for treasure and intrepid explorers going on a bear hunt!

In our own garden area we love to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, as well as cook and eat our own produce. The potato harvest is always a particularly exciting time! In the mud kitchen all sorts of exotic and unusual recipes are created and marvelled at!

Indoors the children choose from a wide range of activity areas, including playdough, sand, water, construction, small world, creative and imaginative play resources. In the home corner you will be served numerous cups of banana tea, be presented with huge platefuls of every food you could imagine, be bandaged up by the doctor and often told there’s a fire, but not to worry, because the fire fighters are on their way!

We enjoy finding creative ways to nurture a love of books, and story time with our book of the week is a lovely time for all of the children to share in. It is delightful to watch children retelling the story to their friends using animated voices and remembering the repeated phrases. Each day also has plenty of singing including nursery rhymes and number songs, and we love adding actions!

Snack times and lunchtime are important times in the day for rest and for developing social skills. The children have access to free fruit and milk each day. Most children bring a packed lunch, but hot meals can be ordered and purchased from “The Farm Kitchen” who supply the main school.

We very much encourage the children to be as independent as possible and to ask questions, explore and try out things for themselves. We find different ways to support them in deepening their understanding and skills through hands on learning. You will often hear the staff using phrases such as “What would happen if you…?” “Why don’t you try it out for yourself”, “I wonder why it does that?”, “You can do it, keep going!”

The children each have a personal, secure online Learning Journey using software called Tapestry, which builds into a lovely record of their learning, including photos, comments and observations. Parents are able to view this continually and are encouraged to add their own photos and observations from home.

We very much value the partnership with you in ensuring that your children continue to be confident, excited and super little learners!
