E-Safety

There are lots of great things to do on the Internet from playing games, looking for something for school, listening to music, watching video clips or just looking for cool stuff. But you also need to know how to stay safe online and what to do if you come across something you don't like. On this page you can find websites to help your children stay safe online as well as links to information for parents and carers.

The opportunities that computing gives our young people as they grow are both wide and fantastic. Even as little as ten or fifteen years ago the technology being used today would seem amazing. With this ever-changing world comes ever changing challenges. It is important that all children are kept safe from things which could make them upset or put them at risk. At school we help the children to think about their use and behaviour of computers. In discussions with them and using government advice we can minimise the risks.

E-safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. We also want to help our parents and children improve their own understanding of e-safety issues so they can learn to use the Internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.

To try and help you with the fast moving and changing world of Internet and social media we've suggested a few Internet sites below which are fantastic resources and fact sheets which contain information on different types of social media and how to help keep children safe. 

It's important to remember however that the legal age to have an account on most social media - Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Snapchat - is 13 years old.

Always be careful when you are using the Internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm – to you and to others.

Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.

Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.
