A message from Mr Garcia:

Hi! I’m Mr. Garcia and class teacher in Elm class. My classroom is all about curiosity, confidence, and having fun while we learn. I bring a big passion towards the school curriculum particularly favourite subjects such as history and geography, and I love turning these subjects into exciting adventures that spark imagination.

I’m all about building positive relationships, adapting to what each student needs, and keeping expectations high so everyone can shine. Our room is a lively, welcoming space where questions are encouraged, effort is celebrated, and learning feels great.

Outside school, I’m a proud Chelsea fan, a history enthusiast, and Hughie the dog’s full-time carer. I also love getting lost in video games with amazing stories and characters.

Together in Elm class, we’ll explore, discover, and make every day a memorable one.

If you would like to explore and engage with what the children are learning at school, read our class curriculum newsletter. It will detail what topics we are learning, as well as the key skills being taught.

Reading

Throughout the year the children will be expected to read daily both in school and at home. We will discuss what they have been reading together, they can independently log their activity in their reading records.

P.E

Elm class - PE day is Friday (afternoon) unless we send a message via MCAS to advise of a change.

Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit and trainers for the lesson. Long hair should be tied up and all jewellery removed. If your child cannot remove their own ear studs please ensure you take them out on the day.

Home learning

Homework will be set on Wednesdays and is expected to be returned on Monday. The children’s homework will include an English task, previous topics of maths and the current week’s maths work taught.

The children will have weekly spellings to learn on Spelling Shed. Alongside this, I would like the children to read to an adult 3 x a week. The children can read independently if confident. I would like all reading at home recorded in their reading diaries. For year 4, the children will be completing multiplication tables check in the summer term. I would also strongly encourage people, even for the year 5’s, to practice times tables daily and using the following website Thompson’s MTC, would be greatly appreciated and support the children throughout the year.

Trips/Visitors

Homework will be set on Wednesdays and is expected to be returned on Monday. The children’s homework will include an English task, previous topics of maths and the current week’s maths work taught.

We welcome volunteers to come and listen to readers,  please contact the school office if you wish to support in this.
