Our Christian Vision
Care. Believe. Grow.
Our School Vision
At Chestnut Street, we believe that our school is the ‘garden’ where our children will grow and flourish like the mustard tree in the kingdom of heaven. We have the passion to enable every child to achieve anything in their life journey. As part of the Christian family, we follow Jesus’ examples and teachings, we believe, care, guide and support our children and their families. "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, it is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade." Mark 4:30-32
How does this underpin all that we do?
We believe that all stakeholders (pupils, staff, governors, parents, families and wider community members) are extremely and equally valuable and important to us. Chestnut Street C of E is a welcoming school, which through teamwork provides a caring and safe environment that prepares our children as confident, unique, hardworking, trustworthy and happy citizens. With God’s guidance, we work with pride and passion to create life-long learners, who fulfil their potential. If we work together, we will be the very best that we can be: achieving, celebrating and succeeding whilst having fun.
Each of our values ‘Care, Believe, Grow’ is made explicitly Christian and linked to Jesus; and to ensure they are lived out in our daily lives, we celebrate them during our daily worship and explore them in all areas of our curriculum.

Our Christian Ethos
The foundation of our Christian ethos is rooted in the parable of the Mustard Seed and lived out through our vision of Care, Believe and Grow.
Our Vision
Creating a community where we Care, Believe and Grow together
We believe that all of our children and staff should be cared for and kept safe. We believe all of our children and adults should be nurtured to develop as people who care about others within our own lives and within our local community.
We believe in the power of reflection and prayer and invitational opportunities offer children the time to develop spiritually. We believe that every child can reach their full potential in their academic and social and emotional development. As we reach out to one another, through our shared Christian values, we believe in the difference we can each make in our school, our community and the wider world.
As a church school family, we learn and grow together in God’s love. We try our hardest to develop our unique set of skills, knowledge, qualities and characteristics which enable us to achieve our full potential in all aspects of learning. Through our Christian values of Trust, Perseverance, Compassion, Respect, Forgiveness and Honesty we aspire to grow spiritually, academically, physically and emotionally to be the best we can be.
Our work is set in the context of the Church of England Vision for Education, ‘Deeply Christian, Serving the Common Good,’ Autumn 2016 and educating for:
Wisdom, knowledge and skills
Community and living well together
Respect and dignity
Hope and aspiration
As a church school within the Diocese of Lincoln we embrace the Diocesan Vision for, ‘Church schools serving their communities through excellence, exploration and encouragement within the love of God.’
Our Vision brings us to consider The Kingdom of God. We understand that this is, in essence, where God rules — not a geographical territory, but in human hearts and minds, lives and communities. We understand, being a member of the community of the Kingdom of God is both a precious gift and a challenge: living out the values of the Kingdom of God is the key challenge of being a disciple of Jesus, loving God and loving our neighbour.
As a church school within the Diocese of Lincoln we embrace the Diocesan Vision which reads: Through partnerships firmly rooted in Christian hope and in the love of God, we empower all in our Church school family to love one another with humility, justice and kindness. ’Called, Aspirational, Rooted, Empowering – CARE’ This forms part of the school’s core motto – CARE, BELIEVE, GROW
The Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust vision of ‘You are the God who sees me’ (Genesis 16:13) is articulated through the ethos of Excellence, Exploration and Encouragement powered through Equity. This provides a clear purpose to our work together removing barriers and ‘seeing’ all the children in our care.
Our school vision, set in the context of a Christian ethos, is lived out through our aims and values creating a community in which we can all grow.
We aim to provide a broad, balance and creative curriculum which will support each one of us to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
This is lived out through building a community based on the shared values of:
Trust
Perseverance
Compassion
Respect
Forgiveness
Humility
