In our Year 3 class we aim to create independent learners who strive to meet their true potential whilst knowing that they have the full support of all of the adults and their friends to achieve that.

The children will take part in many different learning opportunities to ensure they have a wide range of experiences both in and outside the classroom.

We always welcome parent helpers in our classes, so feel free to get in contact and we will find some time for you to come in and see what we are up to.

School Values

Term 1 - Honesty

Term 2 - Trust

Term 3 - Compassion

Term 4 - Respect

Term 5 - Forgiveness

Term 6 - Perserverance

Reading

Throughout the year the children will be expected to read daily both in school and at home, this may be their Accelerated Reader book or a book for pleasure. We will discuss what they have been reading together, they can independently log their activity in their reading records. We like to help them to become independent readers and also add to their reading diary each day.

P.E

PE will be on a Tuesday (afternoon) unless we dojo home to advise of a change.

Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit and trainers for the lesson. Long hair should be tied up and all jewellery removed. If your child cannot remove their own ear studs please ensure you take them out on the day.

Home learning

They will also be set weekly homework, this will be sent home with their homework book,  Spellings will be set on spelling shed each week (website at bottom of the page). Spelling sheets will also be sent home each week for the children to practice. Homework should be presented neatly as it would be done in school - no pens unless the homework says to use one.

Trips/Visitors

In Elder we will have a visitor in the first term Sunita, who allows the children to have an experience of India, We also have a zoom call from famous authors. We also hope to visit Creswell Crags in the summer term.

Elder  will be swimming in the summer term.
